Laughing Gas
Laughing gas is a staple sedation dentistry technique used in dental offices for over 100 years. At our office, we begin by placing a comfortable breathing mask over your nose. Once the laughing gas is dispensed and you start breathing it in, you will relax in just a minute or two.
Laughing gas is a light sedation, so once your treatment is complete, there are no after effects. You can even drive yourself home when the procedure is done
Oral Conscious Sedation
If you are anxious about dental work and need an extensive procedure, we might recommend oral conscious sedation. Our Pearland dental professionals want you to feel at ease and will prescribe a sedative, if necessary, that you’ll take prior to your dental visit.
Most patients will stay awake enough that we can communicate with your during your procedure, but you likely won’t remember the experience. Because this medication takes time to exit the bloodstream, you should have a friend or family member drive you to and from your appointment.
At our Pearland and Friendswood sedation dentistry practices, we offer IV sedation for patients who deal with severe dental phobias, are medically compromised, or want to have multiple treatments done in one visit. With IV sedation, our sedation dentists can safely and gently put you in a deep state of relaxation for your full treatment. You may even relax deep enough to fall asleep!
